Quick question, Al.
What's your level of boredom and how much motivation do you have?

So... I have a quick question. It's a bit of an odd one, given that we're under the sea and all, but does it ever get cold enough around here to ice skate?

And as a follow-up, is there anywhere around here to skate?

Mhmm. It's an activity that's performed on ice. One wears a special kind of shoe, which is pretty much a boot with a blade on the sole and it allows them to glide around on the ice.

But I can glide without special shoes. Somehow I think it'd be harder if I tried it with them on.

Not all of us have such an ability. [Though it must be nice.]

It does take a bit of learning to get used to it.

Well... [cautiously.] If there's somewhere I can learn, even though we're underwater..

If it gets cold enough, I'd be more than happy to teach you, if you'd like.

[again, with a note of caution coloring her voice:] Sure, that would be nice.

Um... what's your name, though?

VOICE.

[identity profile] vimyridge.livejournal.com 2010-12-18 09:01 am (UTC)(link)
[He seemed to understand the need for caution. And he didn't blame her.] Would it ease your mind if we met sometime?

[There was a pause and a soft, embarrassed laugh.] O- oh! where are my manners. Please forgive me. I'm Canada. Or Matthew Williams.

VOICE.

[identity profile] innocency.livejournal.com 2010-12-18 09:10 am (UTC)(link)
I would feel better if we can, yeah. [some of the tension leaves her voice after this admission.]

You... have two names? [now she sounds very much awed.] How come? And which do you prefer to be called?

O-oh... sorry. I'm Xion. [when confronted with something new, she immediately becomes excited and asks a barrage of questions. this is typical of her.]

VOICE.

[identity profile] vimyridge.livejournal.com 2010-12-18 09:23 am (UTC)(link)
That would be fine with me. I have no problems with it at all. [He just had a habit of being far too trusting which made it a bit difficult for him to be so weary of others. Though when others were, he was happy to try and accomodate them however he could.] We could have lunch at one of the cafes sometime or something.

It's a pleasure to talk with you, Xion. [He didn't seem to mind the questions. He just hoped he could explain it easily enough without making everything too overly complicated.] It's a bit difficult. Formally, I'm Canada. Which, back home, would mean that I'm the representation of a country. Having another name makes it easier to interact with humans on a more casual basis. B- but, anyway. I prefer Matthew or Matt. It's less formal.

Thanks. [force of habit is primarily to blame in her case. since she's not really considered herself part of the organization in awhile, it's not their strict "n being seen" edict holding her back. but the fear that they'll figure her out.

so she's careful with everyone here by default, just in case.]
Sure... when?

[a looooooooooong pause, as she tries to digest this bit. try as she might, it's beyond her comprehension how anyone can represent a country unless they're ...what's the word? a diplodocus... no! diplomat. diplomat.]

I can't say I get it. Unless you're a diplo---ah. Diplomat? But that's more of a title anyway, right? I think.. But. Um... it's nice to talk to you too.

VOICE.

[identity profile] vimyridge.livejournal.com 2010-12-18 09:53 am (UTC)(link)
When is good for you? I generally tend to have a pretty open schedule. [Since it's not like he has any pressing matters to deal with on a regular basis or anything. Unless one counted making sure his brother actually got his lazy self out of bed, but he usually took care of that after he managed to drag his own lazy self out of bed in the mornings.]

It's okay. We're from different worlds, correct? And I understand that it's quite a foreign concept to try and understand. But to answer the question... I suppose, in a way, you could say I'm a diplomat. But I really am a physical manifestation of a country as well.

Anytime other than sunset. [because that's her time to sit up on the balcony and eat ice cream with her bffs. and it's sacred, man.]

Yeah. It really is kind of... beyond me, I guess you can say. [long pause.]

That's so cool!
